Itinerary

Day 1: Uyuni Salt Flats
Day 1: Uyuni Salt Flats

Our adventure begins this morning at 10:30 AM as we meet amongst the charming chaos of Uyuni. We'll bond with our crew as we make the short drive to the train cemetery just out of town, where you’ll be given plenty of time to wander around. Shortly after, climb back aboard and continue our drive to the town of Colchani, some 40 KM away. Here we are able to roam through the colorful handicraft and souvenir stalls run by locals. As the gateway to the salt flats, we leave Colchani and enter this vast, white desert. Spend some time taking it all in before we make our way to Playa Blanca former salt hotel (now a rustic visitor center). Enjoy a freshly-prepared local lunch on us at a convenient location. The afternoon will be left entirely to enjoy more of the mesmerizing salt flats. We take our time to get the perfect deep-perspective photograph aided by our driver/guide. Then, once we reach Incahuasi Island, you will be given free time to hike to the top of it to enjoy the 360-degree awe-inspiring views of the salt flats. Exit the salt flats later in the afternoon in order to reach our accommodation in a comfy rural lodge on the outer rim of the salt flats. Meals: Lunch & dinner

Day 2: Lagoons & deserts
Day 2: Lagoons & deserts

After an included breakfast this morning - and we'll need all the fuel we can get - we'll drive south headed for the remote highlands of Eduardo Avaroa Reserve. We enjoy our drive through vast deserts and secluded Andean lagoons spotting wildlife all along the way (vicuñas, flamingo). After a stop for lunch we'll continue driving to the Siloli Desert where the famed ‘Arbol de Piedra’ or ‘Stone Tree’ can be found. The trail here is fairly bumpy and isolated, inspiring of real 4WD adventure. Eduardo Avaroa Reserve offers spectacular Andean scenery of high mountains, deserts, lagoons and more. Within the Reserve, we reach Laguna Colorada, home to thousands of pink flamingo. We've seen plenty of spectacular views, but this might just be the best so far. As the night draws in, we'll reach our lodge, admiring the dramatic Andes range in the distance. After an included dinner we'll turn in for the night. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch & dinner

Day 3: Geysers, hot springs & return to Uyuni

After a very early breakfast this morning we'll make our way to the steaming ‘Sol de Mañana’ geyser field. Through bumpy tracks and challenging terrain, we'll finally reach the summit of the trip (4900m), offering spectacular Andean panoramas that are simply unforgettable. After the chilling cold at Sol de Mañana, we'll make the drive down to Polques. Upon arrival we'll have some free time to chill by the lake soaking the medicinal powers of the soothing hot springs. Continue our drive to Laguna Verde. This beautiful lagoon is not always ‘green’ but is framed by the spectacular Mt. Licancabur and other volcanoes. Here, we'll make a short detour to reach the border at Hito Cajones where those customers headed for Chile will say goodbye. After our border stop, we'll make our way back to Uyuni this afternoon. Our trip finishes back where we started. But those salt flats, mountains, deserts and lagoons will stick with us forever. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch (lunch not available if transferring to San Pedro de Atacama).
